Ethylene & Naphtha Cracking
Radiant-box design for high-flux, high-severity ethylene service. Tube metallurgy, coil geometry, and firing strategy engineered for long run length and predictable decoking cycles.
Cracking furnaces decide the economics of every downstream chemical chain — ethylene, VCM/PVC, acetic anhydride. Esteem delivers new cracking furnaces and revamps for refiners, naphtha crackers, and VCM/PVC operators, backed by three decades of applied thermal engineering and our own proprietary process technology for Acetic Anhydride.
Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited's naphtha cracker complex in Lepetkata runs four Esteem-built cracking furnaces at 39 MMKcal/hr each — executed as a licensor collaboration with CB&I Lummus. One of the largest ethylene-class cracking furnace deliveries from an Indian engineering company.
The same BCPL scope included the Regeneration Gas Heater — proof that Esteem can execute the full thermal package around a cracker, not just the cracking box itself.
Working with CB&I Lummus on cracking service is where our engineering depth is most visible: we translate a licensor's proprietary tube geometry and operating severity into a mechanical package that performs, meets API 560, and ships from our shop.
Naphtha cracking furnace
High-flux radiant design for ethylene service
Full-scope cracking furnace execution — from process and thermal design through erection and commissioning.
Radiant-box design for high-flux, high-severity ethylene service. Tube metallurgy, coil geometry, and firing strategy engineered for long run length and predictable decoking cycles.
Ethylene Dichloride cracking for VCM/PVC operators — aggressive coking service where metallurgy, heat-flux control, and revamp practicality decide profitability.
Debottlenecking, coil redesign, burner retrofits, and convection upgrades that lift throughput, conversion, and efficiency together — without a full unit replacement.
Shop-fabrication of radiant modules at our ASME U+S shop in Baddi, then site integration on compressed windows.
Ethylene Dichloride cracking is a notoriously aggressive, high-coking service. Unplanned shutdowns from coking and corrosion drag down the entire VCM/PVC value chain. When Chemplast Sanmar needed more out of an existing EDC furnace, they called Esteem.
Low throughput and conversion were limiting VCM production from an ageing EDC furnace.
Engineering-led revamp of coil design, firing-side performance, and furnace internals — inside a tight outage window.
"We appreciate the dedicated efforts from Esteem's team and their professional attitude throughout the execution of the job as well as post-commissioning support."

This outcome matters beyond one project. It is evidence that Esteem can intervene intelligently in the hardest cracking service and lift multiple plant metrics simultaneously — the same discipline we bring to naphtha and ethylene cracking.
In cracking service, material science, thermal optimisation, and coking control have to line up together. One-metric thinking destroys run length.
Heat-flux distribution, residence-time profiles, and coil geometry modeled in WinHeat® and validated with CFD so the furnace performs at the design point — not just the datasheet point.
High-alloy specification for HCl-rich and high-temperature coking environments. Material selection aligned with measured coking rate and decoking cycle economics.
Survey, adequacy analysis, bottleneck mapping, then targeted intervention on the components that actually move conversion and throughput — not a wholesale rebuild.
Every design executed to API 560 with owner, licensor, and consultant overlays translated cleanly. Our engineers sit on the API committees writing these standards.
The same thermal engineering that delivers BCPL's naphtha crackers and Chemplast's EDC revamp is what makes our Ketene Cracker the highest-performing furnace for Acetic Anhydride production anywhere in India — higher yield, longer run length, and larger unit capacity than any competing offering.
Esteem licenses complete LSTK Acetic Anhydride plants with end-to-end performance guarantees from raw material to final product quality — the kind of scope normally reserved for UOP, Lummus, Axens, and Topsoe. We are the Indian name on that list.
